Man Who Died And ‘Saw Heaven’ Says Angels Took Him To Unexpected Place
A man who briefly died and claims he ‘saw heaven’ says angels guided him to a surprising location during his near-death experience.
Ideas about what happens after death vary widely across religions, cultures, and personal beliefs.
While some people believe the soul continues on in an afterlife or is reborn into another body, others think that consciousness simply ends when life does.
But one North Carolina man believes he was given a firsthand glimpse of what lies beyond.
A near-death experience after a life-threatening illness
David Hanzel, a psychic medium from North Carolina, says he visited heaven after temporarily dying while battling a severe case of sepsis.
For years, Hanzel had wondered what happens when people die. Following his experience, however, he says he no longer has any doubts.
In September 2015, he was hospitalized with a serious lung infection and sepsis. After his heart stopped, he slipped into a coma that lasted for two months.
Although Hanzel says he had ‘no conception’ that he had died, he admits he had long believed he would pass away at a relatively young age.
A vision of heaven unlike anything on Earth
Speaking to the Daily Star, Hanzel recalled finding himself beneath what he described as the most breathtaking night sky he had ever witnessed.
He said the sky appeared velvety and silky, stretching endlessly without a visible beginning or end.
As he explored his surroundings, Hanzel says he encountered two beings who seemed to act as guides.
Hanzel claims: “All of a sudden one being was on my left and one on my right.
“They just felt comfortable. Like I knew them. They showed me that it was the most beautiful, golden-white light.
“It was so pretty and there were all these angels and everything going up into it.”
According to Hanzel, the two beings then led him somewhere he never expected to find in the afterlife, a setting that resembled a traditional pub.
The venue featured striking, colorful bottles lining the walls, although he says there was no alcohol present.
Hanzel recalls being told by the beings that people are first shown whatever environment feels most familiar or comforting to them based on their own beliefs and expectations.

What happened when he returned to life
Following the visit to the pub-like setting, Hanzel says he found himself effortlessly moving up the side of a massive white marble building.
“When you stepped, you didn’t feel like your foot touched the ground,” he adds.
“Like there’s no gravity. It’s kind of like you’re floating and walking.”
When he eventually awoke from the coma, Hanzel says he experienced a profound emotional shift.
He claims he returned with complete forgiveness toward anyone who had ever wronged him and gained a new perspective on faith, religion, and life itself.
According to Hanzel, it took experiencing death to fully understand certain truths he had spent years searching for.
While his account cannot be scientifically verified, Hanzel believes his experience suggests there may be more beyond death than many people imagine, and that what awaits could be very different from what we expect.
