A single Japanese man nearly died from m**turbating, according to a medical case report.

The 51-year-old, whose identity was withheld by the doctors, reportedly engaged in frequent self-pleasure.

Yet one instance led to a near-fatal stroke immediately following e***ulation.

The man suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a type of stroke involving bleeding on the brain’s surface.

Subarachnoid haemorrhage, often spontaneous, can be triggered by strenuous physical activities, including intercourse.

They are most prevalent in individuals between the ages of 45 and 70.

In this particular case, the man was suddenly afflicted with severe ‘thunderclap’ headaches right after e***ulating, followed by vomiting.

Prompted by these alarming symptoms, he sought medical attention at Nagoya City University Hospital.

Upon examination, doctors noted his low blood pressure and disorientation, both indicative signs of a stroke.

A subsequent CT scan of his brain confirmed the presence of a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a life-threatening condition caused by a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.

Fortunately, the man survived and was discharged from the hospital in ‘excellent’ condition after nearly two weeks of treatment.

Dr. Masahiro Oomura and his colleagues, who published the case report in the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease, did not offer a specific reason as to why m**turbation might have triggered the stroke in this patient.

Meanwhile, therapist Dr. Janet Brito has addressed concerns about frequent m**turbation to Healthline, stating that daily is generally fine unless it causes distress or negatively affects daily life, highlighting issues like time consumption, guilt, and impact on relationships.

While m**turbation and p*** don’t directly cause e***tile dysfunction, technique can play a role, advising varied methods and a potential break from stimulation if partnered s** is affected.

Dr. Daniel Walsh, a consultant cerebrovascular neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, explained to MailOnline that the ruptured aneurysm leading to the patient’s stroke is believed to be associated with a sudden surge in blood pressure, which is ‘something characteristic’ of s**ual activity.

He further noted that various forms of s**ual activity, including m**turbation, have been linked to between 3.8 percent and 14 percent of all subarachnoid haemorrhage cases.

Dr. Walsh also cautioned that the use of drugs like Viagra or c**aine during intercourse can elevate the risk of this type of stroke.

However, Dr. Walsh offered a reassuring perspective, stating: “‘On a positive note, you will probably do more to prevent having a subarachnoid haemorrhage by avoiding smoking, recreational drugs and managing elevated blood pressure with your GP than abstaining from s** in all its forms.'”
