Terrifying Moment Tourist’s Bungee Jump Completely Snaps Mid-Air
A tourist’s bungee jump took a devastating turn as it snapped in mid-air.
The terrifying moment a man’s bungee jump went totally wrong was caught on camera, plunging him to the ground.
A Hong Kong tourist named Mike was at the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park in Thailand, when he decided to try bungee jumping.
But he could never have imagined how wrong the exhilarating activity would go, as he jumped from the 10-storey high platform.
And while all seemed well at first, the cord of the bungee snapped as he approached the bottom.
The man was then immediately taken to hospital, where he was hospitalized for three days.
Speaking to HK01, he said: “The pain was so intense that I felt dizzy.
“As my arms were stretched out, my armpit area was the worst hit.”
He added: “My friends and I suffered losses due to the accident, including changes to our travel plans, my injuries, and income loss.
“If the accident had been more severe, I could have lost my life.”
Thankfully, Mike was jumping off the high platform into the water, but his injuries cost him around HK$50,000 (approximately $6,700), which was covered by his travel insurance.
The tourist also claimed that the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park offered him compensation.
But it seems the offer didn’t quite make up for the ordeal, as they paid $250 towards his medical bills, and offered him a $67 refund for the bungee jumping experience.
After contacting the park and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to complain, he received a response from neither.
And while the nature of a bungee jump is usually a safe activity to partake in, of course diving off a high platform comes with its risks.
Mike posted pictures of his injuries, including his limbs being covered in bruises.
After being plunged into the water, the tourist admitted that he blacked out for a short time before coming to, and being able to swim out with the help of park employees.
Fortunately, he was at the lowest point of the jump when he landed in the water.
But it’s not the only bungee jump accident to happen in recent years.
A man in Poland broke his spine when the harness attaching him to the bungee rope broke, and a woman took a terrifying 360-foot plunge when her rope snapped.
There have also been a number of deaths, including one woman who jumped before her cord had been attached.
It happened as instructors told her boyfriend to jump, which she mistakenly thought was her cue.
