World’s Top Five Forbidden Places And Why You Can Never Visit
There are five major forbidden places on Earth that you should never visit.
Although the world is filled with breathtaking destinations open to travelers, some places are strictly off-limits, and for good reason.
These locations aren’t just hidden gems waiting to be discovered; they are carefully protected, often surrounded by strict laws, physical barriers, or even active enforcement to keep outsiders away.
Whether it’s due to extreme danger, government secrecy, cultural sensitivity, or environmental preservation, these five locations remain completely closed to the public.
In many cases, attempting to visit them could result in serious consequences, from hefty fines to imprisonment, or far worse.
From isolated tribes untouched by modern civilization to sites shrouded in religious mystery and scientific importance, here are five of the most forbidden places on Earth.
North Sentinel Island

Located in the Bay of Bengal, North Sentinel Island might look like a tropical getaway, but it’s one of the most inaccessible places on the planet.
The island is home to the Sentinelese people, an Indigenous tribe that has shunned contact with the outside world for thousands of years.
The Indian government has made it illegal to approach within a few kilometers of the island to protect both the tribe and potential visitors.
The Sentinelese have violently resisted outsiders, most notably in 2018, when U.S. missionary John Allen Chau was killed while trying to interact with them.
As the island remains uncontacted, it’s a stark reminder that not all places are meant for tourism.
The Vatican Apostolic Archive

Deep within the walls of Vatican City lies a treasure trove of documents few have ever seen.
Formerly known as the Vatican Secret Archive, this repository holds centuries’ worth of papal correspondence, historical records, and classified materials dating back to the 17th century.
Access is highly restricted. While nobody had been able to enter for 250 years, limited permissions were granted in 1881 by Pope Leo XIII for qualified scholars.
Even today, entry is tightly controlled, and only those with special authorization are allowed to explore its secrets.
Svalbard Global Seed Vault

Built into a mountain on the remote Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is often referred to as the ‘Doomsday Vault.’
It holds over 1.3 million seed samples from across the world, acting as a backup to preserve global agricultural biodiversity in case of catastrophic events.
The vault is designed to survive natural and manmade disasters.
According to reports, it lies ‘100 meters inside a mountain’ and is built to endure earthquakes, nuclear strikes, and climate threats.
For preservation purposes, the public is strictly prohibited from entering.
Snake Island

Ilha da Queimada Grande, better known as Snake Island, lies off the coast of Brazil and is infamously home to the golden lancehead viper, one of the deadliest snakes on Earth.
Its venom is so potent that it’s said to melt human flesh, and can kill within an hour.
Due to the overwhelming population of these snakes and their danger to humans, the Brazilian Navy has banned civilian entry.
Only a few scientists are permitted to visit, and only with a medical professional present.
Church of St. Mary of Zion

In the ancient city of Aksum, Ethiopia, stands the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion.
Legend holds that it houses the Ark of the Covenant, the sacred chest said to contain the original Ten Commandments.
But no one is allowed to see it, except one chosen guardian.
The mystery surrounding the Ark’s location continues to draw speculation, but access to the chapel is completely restricted.
As reported, ‘only a guardian is allowed in the chapel where it’s apparently housed,’ leaving the rest of the world to wonder what lies within.
