Lil Nas X, who is also known as Montero Lamar Hill, is receiving a backlash over his fake pregnancy photos.

Earlier this week, the American rapper released a string of photos showing himself sporting a huge bump to promote the release of his debut album.

He captioned the Instagram post: “SURPRISE! I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO’ is due September 17, 2021.”

Although many people said they found the stunt ‘genius’ and ‘hilarious,’ many argued it could offend transgender men who are able to carry children.

Trans advocate and athlete Schuyler Bailar took to social media after seeing the photos and argued Lil Naz X was causing ‘hatred’.

He said: “Lil Nas X’s portrayal of pregnancy as a cis man welcomes ignorance and hatred towards the trans masculine community specifically.”

Bailar also said the American was relying on the ‘shock’ factor and was enforcing the idea that men can’t get pregnant.

He added: “Trans men can and do all the time.”

Not all of the singer’s followers were impressed with the stunt either and some blasted him in the comments section.

One asked: “When are you going to talk about trans masculine people having babies?”

Another said: “This is a costume. You get to take that off at the end of the day. The comments that you’ve baited don’t affect you. But they affect your trans followers.”We don’t get to brush that off. Can you please have some empathy for some of the most sidelined members of your community?”
