Love Island USA star Josh Goldstein has been forced to quit the show after discovering his sister has died.
According to The Sun, the 24-year-old, who found love with Shannon St. Clair, was told the horrific news in the middle of the night by producers.
Announcing his departure to the rest of the Islanders, he said: “I just wanna tell you guys that me and Shannon are going home today.
“My sister passed away last night. I just want to let you guys know that I’m so grateful to have met all of you.”
However, not everybody agreed with CBS for airing the personal moment.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “They should’ve just had the narrator say Josh and Shannon left for personal reasons instead of airing a whole segment about it and then expecting us to not have a weird vibe watching the rest of the episode #LoveIslandUSA.”
Condolences are now flooding in on social media.
One person wrote: “My heart breaks for Josh, imagine receiving that news in the villa #LoveIslandUSA.”
Another added: “Damn my prayers really go out to josh and his family #loveislandUSA.”
“Josh we support you and your family,” a third wrote.
Love Island USA’s official account wrote: “We send our love and condolences to Josh and his family on behalf of all of us at Love Island.”
Goldstein and St. Clair have been coupled up from the very beginning and were the first pair to make their relationship official. They were also favourites to go on and win the show.
Many viewers have claimed they don’t want to continue watching series now that they have left.
One person wrote: “I’m not watching #LoveIslandUSA anymoreeeee. Shannon was literally carrying the show. I love you Josh, glad you got Shannon with you.”
Another added: “I’m sorry no I’m not watching another second of this show get Olivia off my screen while I’m trying to grieve Josh and his sister.”
