A man believes he’s cracked KFC’s secret recipe, after months of attempts.
Dan Fell, a super-fan of the fast-food chain, says that after 18 months of trying, he’s finally mastered the secret recipe for its finger-licking chicken.
Proud of his accomplishment, he took to Twitter to share the news: “You wanted to know how to make #KFC at home. Here’s my recipe which took me nearly 18 months to perfect. #thedarkKFC.”
Confident he’s mastered the chain’s chicken, Dan insists you can’t ‘tell the difference’ between his and KFC’s version.
To try his version out, check out the recipe below:
- 5 cups of plain flour
- Self-raising flour
- Cooking oil
- 4 tablespoons of paprika
- 1 tablespoon of mustard powder
- 2 tablespoons of white pepper
- 1 tablespoon of celery salt
- 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- Half a tablespoon of oregano and thyme
- One-third of a tablespoon of sea salt
And of course, you’ll need some chicken too!
To start it off, Dan says you’ll need to mix the flour and seasonings together. Use three parts of the mix, to one part of the self-raising flour. Next, give the chicken an egg wash and roll it around the seasoning. Once this is done, fry it in hot oil for around five to six minutes.
After it’s finished frying, you need to whack it in a pre-heated oven at 80C for batch cooking. Before serving up, quickly give it a 90-second fry off.
I might have to try this out!
