Man Believes He’s Found KFC Secret Recipe After Months Of Trying

A man believes he’s finally concocted a finger-licking piece of chicken worthy of serving at fast-food chain KFC after attempting for months to crack the secret recipe.

Since lockdown, many have dreaded cooking in the kitchen, having been used to being able to go to any fast food drive-thru whenever they like. However, as the UK is currently under lockdown many have started to make some of their favourite foods at home, with not quite the same results. Yet Dan Fell, who may go down in history books if his claims are correct, insists he’s spot on with his version of KFC chicken.

Believing he has cracked the recipe which took him 18 months to do so, Dan took to Twitter to share the brilliant news: “You wanted to know how to make #KFC at home. Here’s my recipe which took me nearly 18 months to perfect. #thedarkKFC.”

In the post, he included a clip that has been liked over 1,800 times and had over 30,000 views. He goes on to reveal that he has plenty of unpublicised recipes and insists you cannot ‘tell the difference’ between his version of chicken and KFC’s.

Dan followed this tweet with a list of ingredients in which you need to prepare your own version. However, you need to be prepared as it’s a pretty long list!

The ingredient list includes:

  • 5 cups of plain flour
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Self-raising flour
  • Cooking oil
  • 4 tablespoons of paprika
  • 2 tablespoons of white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard powder
  • 1 tablespoon of celery salt
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper
  • Half a tablespoon of oregano and thyme
  • One-third of a tablespoon of sea salt

And of course, you’ll need some chicken too!

Dan explains that you will need to start off by mixing the flour and seasonings together, using three parts of the mix to one part of the self-raising flour. You then need to give the chicken an egg wash and roll it around in the seasoning, then fry it in hot oil for five to six minutes.

After you’ve finished frying it, you will need to whack it in a pre-heated oven at 80c for batch cooking and to finish off, give it a final 90-second fry off before serving.
