A woman has shared a video of her boyfriend of six years after she was convinced he was proposing to her over the festive holidays.
When @hannnluck’s boyfriend knelt down on one knee and pulled out a small square box, she was convinced that after six years together, he was finally going to propose.
Within seconds of her partner kneeling down on the floor, she began to tear up and clasp her hands to her face, as she couldn’t believe the moment had finally arrived. Her boyfriend even began by saying: “I love you so much, it’s been six years.”
Yet when he opened up the box, he finished by saying: “Will you please… take these earrings?”
Her boyfriend then opened the lid of the small box to reveal a set of sparkling earrings.
As the moment was recorded on camera, someone can be heard saying in the background: “I knew it.”
The moment was then followed by laughter and since being shared onto TikTok, it has racked up a whopping 1.3 million views.
However, people took to the comments section to say that they didn’t find this proposal prank funny, while others said he was playing with fire by teasing her in this way.
One user wrote: “It would be funny if it were six months but she was probably expecting it at six years bro. This is heartbreaking.”
Another added: “Absolutely not. Throw the whole boy away please.”
While a third said: “Good, he’s in the perfect position to be *kicked in the face*.”
Following the post going viral, the TikToker added an update about the proposal prank. She said that it had taken place last Christmas and she was now happily engaged to her partner months on. She added that after the initial shock of realising it was a joke, she saw the funny side.
She said: “I’m pretty surprised this video got as many views as it did. Also kind of taken back by how many people really hate my fiancé.
“He’s not a bad person, I posted this because I thought it was funny. Our relationship is filled with us playing jokes on each other.”
