A man has been jailed after footage emerged showing him lick a tub of ice cream and then putting it back in the supermarket freezer.
D’Adrien Anderson has been jailed for a month after he was filmed walking into a shop in Port Arthur, Texas, US, to carry out a gross prank which involved him licking ice cream from a tub at a supermarket then putting it back.
In August last year, a video was shared across social media which showed the 24-year-old in a branch of Walmart, intending to pull a prank.
CCTV from inside the supermarket showed Anderson as he took out a tub of ice cream and licked it, to then put it back.
However, he later bought the tainted tub of ice cream and he returned to the store with his father to show officers that he had a receipt which proved he had in fact purchased it, according to ABC news.
As a precaution, all of the ice creams which is manufactured by Blue Bell Creameries was replaced in the freezer – which cost them $1,565 (around £1,000).
A spokesman for Walmart released a statement at the time of Anderson’s arrest which stated: “If food is tampered with, or a customer wants to leave the impression that they left behind adulterated product, we will move quickly with law enforcement to identify, apprehend and prosecute those who think this is a joke – it is not.”
Anderson pleaded guilty to misdemeanour criminal mischief and was jailed for 30 days. He was also fined $1,000 (around £770) and order to pay the ice cream company back their $1,565.
He was then ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
