A man has been slammed after saying scraped knees hurt more than period pains.
Taking to Twitter, he shared a picture of a footballer falling onto his knees alongside a shot of two bloody knees.
He captioned the post: “Until women experience this, I don’t wanna hear about period pains.”
The controversial post, which has now been deleted by the creator, racked up over 22,000 likes and more than 5,000 retweets.
However, many women were quick to respond and inform him he was ‘talking rubbish’ as women have the ability to experience both!
One woman said: “I was eight when I got my first turf burn on my knee. 20 years later, I still bear the scar. In high school I got a spike in my back.
“I’ve broken my thumb, gotten burned, and more. Yet NONE of those compared to my cramps from periods, which has made me pass out before. Sorry you’re a wimp.”
Another sarcastically asked: “Cool story bro. Did the pain you experienced from those scraped knees make you feel like you were going to pass out? Did you feel lightheaded? Cold sweats?”
While a third added: “When I played soccer I dislocated my shoulder, broke my ankle, and scarred my knees multiple times, and still finished the game all times. Periods still take me out of commission with their pain.”
Explaining how uncomfortable periods can be for women, Dr Sarah Jarvis recently told The Sun: “It’s about feeling generally unwell, really weary and sick and not being able to concentrate.
“It affects your mood, leaving you feeling irritable.
“I have some women that say it’s the worst pain they’ve ever experienced.
“We see women who throw up and who are just unable to leave their homes.”
