A man has shared his genius OXO cube hack that will get the perfect crispy roast potatoes for your next Sunday roast – and most amazing of all, the hack will only cost you 30p!
Andrew Price, from Limerick, took to social media to share his drool-worthy shots of his crisped to perfection roast potatoes and as people were so keen to know how he had mastered the roasties, he kindly shared how to recreate the recipe.
The dad of six used a chicken OXO stock cube which he explained would elevate the existing flavours of the spuds, yet bring it to a whole new level.
The lorry driver and foodie took to the Facebook group Rate My Plate Éire and shared his roasties, along with the caption which said: “Chicken Oxo cube roast spuds, everything you need to make it and the finished product.”
As his post was so popular, Andrew actually ended up revealing his spud secrets to Daily Star Online, which included a step by step method of how to master perfectly crispy roast potatoes for people to try this bank holiday weekend.
So, if you want to master the roast potatoes for your next Sunday lunch, then all you’ll need is some peeled and chopped potatoes, salt, pepper, garlic, an onion and two OXO cubes. Although Andrew used chicken stock cubes, it’s entirely up to you which flavour you end up choosing.
To make the roasties, Andrew explained: “Parboil your potatoes and put them in an ovenproof dish.
“Toss in oil and add the OXO cubes [made into liquid stock with half a cup of water] and seasoning.
“Put them into the oven at 160 degrees Celsius for three hours.
“Low and slow is best.”
To complete the dish, then add up some chopped up onions and garlic which will help intensify the flavour even more.
Andrew told Daily Star that he loves sharing his tips and tricks as he enjoys “helping others and inspiring people to cook nice and different meals at home”.
Judging from the comments on the post, Andrew is right to be sharing his hacks – he truly has inspired so many people with his tips.
One commented: “Ah fab thanks, I’ve been looking for something to jazz up my roasties!
“Got some on the boil now so will try it!”
Whilst one said: “I’m crying as I lick my screen!
“They look amazing and I’m so hungry!”
In case you’re looking to be as healthy as possible, then you’ll be happy to know that this trick Andrew shared is actually better for you as it uses far less fat to crisp up than traditional roast potatoes.
