Marilyn Monroe’s estate has responded to the news Kim Kardashian wore the icon’s dress at the 2022 Met Gala.
According to TMZ, the President and CMO of Authentic Brands Group, Nick Woodhouse, has said that he and his partners believe Monroe would have been ‘thrilled’ that the reality star rocked the gown at the New York event.
Supposedly, the icon would have been shocked that after all this time, her dress is still the talk of fashion and pop culture around the world.

Woodhouse reportedly went on to say that Monroe and Kardashian share many similarities, such as the fact they’re both entrepreneurs and independent women who love the camera.
Apparently, Kardashian didn’t clarify with the star’s estate that she would be wearing the gown to the Met Gala. However, this wouldn’t have been necessary anyway, as it now belongs to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida.
Despite the fact the reality star has received the approval of Woodhouse and his partners, not everyone is happy that she wore the historical piece.
Many people have taken to Twitter and deemed it ‘disrespectful’ towards Monroe.

Around the time the Met Gala was taking place, one tweeted: “For Kim Kardashian to wear Marilyn Monroe’s dress is so disrespectful. And especially for some of yall to say, ‘She’s the new Marilyn’ is so out of line. Also for Kim to even be dyeing her hair blonde WHILE wearing the dress just no. I’m so sorry Marilyn #MetGala2022 #MetGala.”
Another added: “Kim Kardashian wearing the real dress that Marilyn Monroe wore to sing Happy Birthday to the president in 1962 is disgraceful and so disrespectful. This dress is 60 years old and so unbelievably fragile with age, it should have been left alone and in pristine condition.”
