Marjorie Taylor Greene has said that ‘we don’t need more gun control‘ after the Texas school mass shooting which reportedly took the lives of 19 children and two adults. 

The far-right congresswoman took to Twitter after news of the tragedy broke and said people ‘need to return to God’.

She stated: “Our nation needs to take a serious look at the state of mental health today.

“America is failing our youngest generations from decades of rejecting good moral values and teachings.

“We don’t need more gun control. We need to return to God.”

Many people have taken to the comments and weighed in on Greene’s controversial view.

In response, one tweeted: “If you cared for children and life as you claim, you would vote yes to sensible gun control.”

“There would be no mass shootings without guns,” another added. “Why is this so hard for you to understand?”

Disagreeing with this, a third said: “It can’t be better said! America needs God. The west needs God. These tragic occurrences are a result of turning back on God. If you know, you know!”

Many stars have shared an alternative view to Greene, as The Avengers star Chris Evans has also spoken out.

Taking to Twitter, he simply wrote: “F***ING ENOUGH!!!!”

When referring to another shooting in 2018, the actor wrote: “The young people of this generation give me so much hope.

Are you listening @GOP? Time for gun laws to change. And for you 2A-ers, relax, no one is saying you can’t own a gun, your right to ‘bear arms shall not be infringed’. Just looking for common-sense reform! #NationalWalkoutDay.”
