The news of Klibingaitis’ passing has been released by the Partners In Crime Facebook page, associated with the Prisoner show.

It says that Klibingaitis passed away ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’.

The Partners In Crime post sent condolences to Maxine’s son, Zane, as well as her family and friends.

It read: “We regrettably announce that actress Maxine Klibingaitis has passed away today.

“Maxine played the much-loved character Bobbie Mitchell in Prisoner, Terry Inglis in Neighbours and many other roles in Australian TV.

“Maxine was only 58. We send our sincere condolences to her son, Zane and Maxine’s family and friends.”

“Very grateful to have met her in person a few times.”

Another adds: “Absolutely heartbreaking and shocking. I was only chatting to Maxine a few weeks ago on phone about catching up next time I am down in Melbourne.

“That won’t be happening. My condolences to her family, friends and fans.”

While somebody else says: “Gutted to hear of the death of Maxine Klibingaitis today. Absolutely loved Bobbie Mitchell in Prisoner, and Terri brought all the drama in Neighbours’ first year.”

She debuted on Neighbours in 1985, during the show’s early days.

Klibingaitis portrayed a mechanic who was invited out on a date by now-legendary character Paul Robinson, with the two later getting married.

Terry ended up in prison after shooting Paul, and her character ultimately took her own life while behind bars.

Neighbours concluded its 37-year run on broadcast TV last year after Channel 5 decided to axe the show.

Amazon Freevee subsequently took up the series, with filming having restarted in April.

The new series will air on the ad-supported streaming service later in 2023, while a number of familiar faces have already signed up to return.
