Alongside promotion shots of the Netflix hit, Hawke penned: “Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women. Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. I know many missed out on numerous high school productions – heck I even missed a few and I’m her father. Some of you may know her music, some may not.
“But ladies and gentlemen, get to know MAYA HAWKE. She’s the real thing.”
Hawke’s post has accumulated more than 840,000 likes and hundreds have taken to the comments.
One said: “Wow! She looks like her mamma!”

The star’s parents got together after meeting on the 1997 sci-fi film Gattaca. The following year, the Hollywood couple tied the knot and two months later, they welcomed Maya. In 2002, they went on to have a son, named Levon. Fast forward two years and Hawke and Thurman finalised their divorce.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Kill Bill star described the difficult period.
“It’s extremely hard, and it’s hard on the whole family. You’re a family, and then you’re not a family in the same way. Our marriage failed. I should take full responsibility for the failure of my own marriage,” she said. “Blaming anybody doesn’t make you feel any better.”
