Maya Jama is a much-loved TV and radio presenter who is known for her iconic fashion looks and fun personality. But despite being so outgoing, she tends to keep quiet when it comes to her love life. So let’s take a look…
Jama, 28, is the brand new host of ITV’s Love Island and since debuting on the show, she’s taken social media by storm.
As the programme focuses on finding love and connections, many of the Glow Up presenter’s fans have been left curious as to how Jama’s own love life is going, and whether she’s seeing anyone.
At the beginning of 2023, Jama made it clear that she is currently single in the build-up to her debut on the dating show.
The Don’t Hate the Playaz star told The Times: “I’m really, really single right now. Newly single. It’s only been a month… but it’s nice.”

Although Jama may be single now, she’s previously dated and been linked to numerous celebrities. So let’s take a look at her dating history below:
Maya Jama’s most publicised relationship was with British rapper Stormzy.
The former Celebrity Juice panellist began dating the ‘Big For Your Boots’ rapper back in 2016 when she was 20 years old.
Although fans went crazy for the pair and branded them ‘couple goals’, the pair broke up in 2019.
In the following year, the ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper sat down with Charlamagne Tha God and revealed that he had ‘never loved anyone’ how he had loved Jama.
He said: “I love her more than anything, I’ve never loved anyone how I love her.”
In 2022, Jama and Stormzy were linked once again following her split from her ex-fiancé Ben Simmons.
At the time, reports claimed the pair were ‘very much’ back in each other’s lives. However, Jama’s representatives shut down these rumours.
They confirmed that this was false gossip and the two are simply ‘great friends’.
Jama and basketball player Ben Simmons reportedly began seeing each other back in May 2021.
At the time, the former radio presenter posted a snap of herself on Instagram in what appeared to be his kitchen.
In July of that year, the pair confirmed they were in a relationship by sharing a kiss at Wimbledon.
Engagement rumours then began in January 2022 after Jama was spotted wearing a huge diamond ring in Philadelphia with her partner.
A source at the time claimed that Simmons had popped the big question to the ex-Walk The Line presenter during the Christmas holidays.
These rumours were fuelled even further when she was then spotted wearing a diamond ring when attending the Brits 2022.
Shortly afterwards, on Valentine’s Day, Jama posted an image of a necklace with the date ’12/18/21′ on her Instagram stories. The upload included a ring emoji, suggesting the couple had taken the big step.
However, the couple split in August 2022 following reported struggles with their long-distance relationship and work commitments.
Rumours that Maya Jama had something going on with the ‘One Dance’ rapper all started when he name-dropped her on his feature on Headie One’s track ‘Only You’.
The particular line read: “Chubbs might jam this yute for a chain / And give it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama.”
After the song dropped, reports surfaced that Drake had allegedly messaged the former Radio 1 presenter.
However, it was claimed that the ‘Hotline Bling’ artist had messaged Jama during her relationship with Stormzy – which meant these alleged texts had been ignored.
During this time, a source claimed to The Sun that Drake had ‘a soft spot’ for the TV presenter.
Even when Jama found herself single, it’s believed she remained uninterested in the Grammy-winning rapper.
The source also told The Sun: “Maya wasn’t going to entertain any form of contact.
“Even when she split with Stormzy it’s not something Maya wanted to pursue and she has left it.”
When Jama was just 16 years old, she was left heartbroken when her boyfriend, Rico Gordon, was killed.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the star said the trauma had given her a ‘fearless approach to things’.
“When I was 16 I went through a lot. With my boyfriend passing, it gave me a fearless approach to things. I felt like life was really short,” she told the magazine.
“Out of everything that [has] happened in my life, that was a reality check on a massive scale. At 16 you think the world is a fairytale and it took me out of that. It made me even more determined.”
