Energy and housing prices are soaring to new highs due to the cost of living crisis and everyone is experiencing a huge rise in prices.

Even food costs have risen, which has left one McDonald’s customer in disbelief.

They’ve even taken to TikTok and shown their receipt from their latest order.

Christopher Olive has taken to the social media platform and shown his 336,000 followers how much he ended up spending.

His order consisted of a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, large fries, and a Sprite – which seems like a pretty standard meal.

Olive shocked his followers when he revealed that this cost him $16.10.

In the clip, the TikToker says: “So I get there’s a labour shortage, I get there are wage increases and a number of other things but… sixteen dollars?

“Sixteen dollars for a burger, a large fries and a drink. It’s just crazy.”

The post has garnered more than 308,000 views and people are flooding the comments with their reactions.

“Five Guys prices at McDonald’s?!” one person questions.

Another user adds: “Sit down restaurant it is for that price.”

“It’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore, might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat,” a third person comments.

Another person adds: “McDonald’s prices have gotten out of hand, I stopped eating there a while ago, you can get cheaper food at a sit-down restaurant.”

“Can buy a week’s worth of the same ingredients at the store for that,” claims a fifth.

However, some people in the comments have diagreed with Olive, claiming that he ordered a more expensive meal on purpose to make a point.

Last year, McDonald’s faced a backlash when it raised the prices of its cheeseburgers for the first time in 14 years.

The fast-food chain announced that the food item will now cost £1.19, having previously only been 99p.

The cheeseburger wasn’t the only item to go up in price, as certain breakfast meals, the McNugget share box and large coffees also increased in cost.
