Meghan Markle, who has just released a kids’ book, has reportedly decided not to have a baby shower for her second child as ‘there is too much strife in the world’ right now.

A source told US Weekly: “Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now. There is too much strife in the world.

“She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly encouraged well-wishers to donate money to charity instead of splashing out on luxurious, unnecessary gifts.

Royal fans will remember Meghan received a backlash when she flew out to New York City and stayed in the penthouse suite at The Mark Hotel to celebrate Archie’s baby shower.

Serena Williams threw her a $200,000 celebration that involved flower-arranging sessions and multi-dessert meals for guests, including Gayle King and Amal Clooney.

According to sources at Vanity Fair, Meghan wanted to make it clear that despite being a Senior Royal at the time, she was going to continue doing things her way.

“As an American, she was very excited to have a baby shower thrown for her. I think she’d have felt she was missing out if she didn’t have one,” they said. “It’s been such a fun time for her, she is with her oldest friends in the city she loves and really enjoying herself.”

Recently, the Duchess had her first interview since her explosive tell-all with Oprah Winfrey. During the chat at the Vax Live telecast, she shared her excitement at expecting a daughter.

She said: “My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter. It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world.

“When we think of her, we think of all the young women and girls around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”
