Michael Bolton was rushed to emergency surgery following a worrying health scare.

Bolton, whose real name is Michael Bolotin, first rose to fame as a hard rock and heavy metal musician, particularly as the frontman of the band Blackjack.

Since then, the ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ singer has moved in a more pop-rock direction and has collaborated with artists including Patti LaBelle, Ray Charles, Celine Dion, Wynonna Judd, and The Lonely Island.

Bolton has sold over 75 million records, recorded eight top 10 albums and has two number-one singles on the Billboard charts.

On top of this, he’s won six American Music Awards and two Grammy Awards over his multi-decade career.

But this week, Bolton has shared a devastating health update with his fans, leaving many feeling hugely worried for the 70-year-old star.

He revealed to his fans that he’d suffered a worrying health scare, resulting in him needing emergency surgery.

The ‘To Love Somebody’ singer shared his news to his fans on Instagram.

He wrote: “I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.

“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumour, which required immediate surgery.”

He continued: “Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.

“For the next couple of months, I will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery which means I’ll have to take a temporary break from touring.”

The ‘Go the Distance’ singer had been due to go on tour in February, with dates planned in the US, UK, Canada and Switzerland, as per the BBC.

Bolton added: “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.

“I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can.”

Bolton’s post was quickly flooded with comments from fans and friends alike.
