A millionaire heiress, who starred in the latest episode of 5STAR’s Rich Kids Go Skint, was left disgusted after trying a Pot Noodle for the first time.

Mercedez, from London, moved in with struggling parents Liam, 24, and Caitlin, 21, from Doncaster, as a part of a social TV experiment.

The 24-year-old, who is a member of one of Nigeria’s most affluent families, usually has a £1,500 monthly allowance. Whereas the couple – who are expecting their second child – live on Universal Credit and have £548.

During her stay with the family, Mercedez said she felt like she was ‘in Coronation Street or Emmerdale,’ as she took in the surroundings of the two-bedroom council house.

“I feel like I’m Beyoncé because everyone is looking at me,” she commented. “I feel like I’m a foreigner. The houses are like boxes.”

But when it came to food, the heiress was even more horrified, as she’d never come across a Pot Noodle before.

Baffled, she asked Liam and Caitlin: “I’m probably going to sound really dumb. So it’s got noodles in it but has it got chicken in it?

“Erm okay. I’ll try it. Yeah… why not?”

Speaking to the camera outside, she continued: “I’m trying to understand. So it sits in the cupboard but it doesn’t go off? I don’t know.

“It looked like it was growing in the water. It’s a shame that’s the only option for lunch.”

Mercedez, who usually enjoys salmon or sushi for lunch, then discovered that the family would usually spend around £70 on food a month.

This was completely different from the socialite’s budget, as she admitted to spending £100 per day on takeaways.

“I do order my breakfast and lunch… and probably dinner,” she confessed. “I don’t want to cook!”

Fortunately for Mercedez, Liam and Caitlin were amused by the fact she’d had such a sheltered life.

The mum said: “To us it’s fine, but she’s more used to eating…”

Pitching in, her partner joked: “Caviar!”

Although the experience was completely eye-opening for the heiress, Mercedez was left emotional after hearing the couple’s stories.

At one point during her stay, Liam admitted he would eat out of bins as a teen, as he had no money.

“When I was 13 years old, I couldn’t get no money at the time, no money or job,” he explained. “There’s a shop just around the corner, I had to sleep underneath it, for six and a half months.”

“Sometimes I used to, on a Friday night, sit outside clubs begging for money, something I wouldn’t ever want anybody to go through.”

Looking tearful, he continued: “I am who I am today because of that reason, I went to live with my nan. My nan got me through college, I studied catering.

“I just felt like I wasn’t good enough, I felt like I basically grew on my own two feet. I can’t read much now, can’t write very well, I’m very very dyslexic, that stops me from getting plenty of jobs, stops me from driving, stops me from actually working sometimes.”

Mercedez replied: “From all you’ve gone through, you’re still so positive. You’re an amazing person.”
