Molly-Mae Hague has been ‘cancelled’ on social media after making ‘tone-deaf’ comments about privilege, which has led to her being compared to Margaret Thatcher.

The former Love Island star, who is now the Creative Director of PrettyLittleThing, made the remarks during an appearance on The Diary Of A CEO podcast last month.

In the chat, she said: “You’re given one life and it’s down to you what you do with it. You can literally go in any direction.

“When I’ve spoken about that in the past I have been slammed a little bit, with people saying ‘It’s easy for you to say that because you’ve not grown up in poverty, so for you to sit there and say we all have the same 24 hours in a day is not correct’.

“But, technically, what I’m saying is correct. We do.”

The social media influencer went on to say that if ‘you want something enough’, it doesn’t matter about your background.

She continued: “So I understand that we all have different backgrounds and we’re all raised in different ways and we do have different financial situations, but I do think if you want something enough, you can achieve it.

“It just depends to what lengths you want to go to get where you want to be in the future. And I’ll go to any lengths.

“I’ve worked my absolute a** off to get where I am now.”

People have since taken to Twitter and blasted Hague for her comments.

One tweeted: “I like Molly-Mae, but in this interview, she basically said, ‘If you’re in a wheelchair… just walk’.”

Another added: “Molly-Mae must be gutted she’s not engaged and she’s getting cancelled for being a massive Tory.”

“Beyond me that people agree with Molly-Mae’s tone-deaf statement that reeks of privilege,” a third penned. “I’m sure the exploited PLT factory workers work harder than she ever will and ‘Put in the work’. But they’re yet to see any reward, and they probably never will, regardless of their efforts.”

A fourth joked: “Who gave Molly-Mae the Thatcher autobiography for Christmas?”
