Molly-Mae Hague and PrettyLittleThing’s ‘disrespectful’ 9/11 tribute has caused outrage on social media.
On the twentieth anniversary of the tragedy, the former Love Island star and fast fashion brand shared an image of the Twin Towers alongside the statement ‘Never Forget 09.11.01’.
However, many people were angered at the ‘commercial’ use of the brand’s colours.

One person said: “What fresh capitalist hell is this? Oh, wait. You have a new ‘creative director’ and it shows.”
Another remarked: “Amazed you haven’t offered a 20% discount code.”
“You put branding over 9/11?!” a third questioned.
However, some Twitter users argued that people were ‘reading too much into it’.
One remarked: “Welcome to 2021, where people on Twitter lose their s*** over a text colour. Talking about reading too much into things.”
In agreement, a second said: “So people are going crazy because the text colour is pink? Funny… Here’s me thinking there’s a bigger problem in the world than fonts and colour charts.”
At the time of writing, Hague and PrettyLittleThing have not responded to the backlash.
The move comes just weeks after the influencer confirmed she was the new Creative Director of the fashion chain.
At the time of announcing the news, she penned on Instagram: “I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I am the new CREATIVE DIRECTOR of @prettylittlething for UK/EU.
“This is the biggest move in my career so far and I can’t explain my gratitude to my favourite brand in the world for trusting me with this role.
“PLT has had faith in me from the VERY start and to now be a Director within the business feels like a complete dream come true. I hope you’re all ready for my visions to come to life within this incredible brand…
“To celebrate this huge news I’m bringing you without a doubt my best collection to date, I’ve worked on this collection now for SO long and I’m beyond proud of it! Now LIVE and available to shop…. I can’t wait to see you all in it! @umarkamani @prettylittlething.”
