Monique The Cat Is Looking For A Loving Home After No One Turned Up To Her Birthday Party

Sweet little cat Monique is looking for a loving home to call her own after spending her birthday on her own at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Staff at Battersea Dogs & Cat Home decided to throw Monique a birthday bash after she had spent over 115 days at the shelter, with there still being no sign of anyone interested in taking her home to be their pet.

To build up the hype and make sure she’s given the caring home she deserves, the staff at the shelter threw her a birthday party on Valentine’s Day after her 100th day at the shelter had passed.

To create a hype around the party, staff shared the news online and decorated Monique’s pen and gave her new toys.

Unfortunately, none of this effort worked. No one showed up to Monique’s party and there was no interest in adopting her.

The staff believe that the lack of interest is based on the fact she is living with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+).

Although Monique is likely to live a long and healthy life, potential owners would need to make ‘cat-proof’ their garden so Monique can safely explore the outdoors whilst getting some fresh air. She also cannot come into contact with other cats, or she could potentially spread the virus further.

Team Leader Chrissie Grindrod at Battersea Dogs & Cat Home said: “It’s always a shame to see one of our cats be repeatedly overlooked, especially one so young and with so much to offer as a pet.

“Monique is a gentle soul who thrives with human company, whether that be playing with her favourite toys together or curling up side by side on the sofa.

“She also won’t ever say no to a chin rub or two.

“Her birthday and Valentine’s Day may now have passed, but it’s not too late to give Monique her dream gift of a lovely new home.”

She added: “We would encourage any potential owners to get in touch regardless of what they do or don’t know already know about FIV, and whether or not their garden is currently cat proof

“Our team are always on hand to answer any questions and offer advice including the simple steps required to secure a garden for an FIV+ pet to enjoy.

“Monique is a wonderful cat who deserves loving owners willing to go the extra mile for her, we assure you she’s worth it.”
