Mum Is Often Mistaken For Daughter’s Sister – Despite Their 23 Year Age Gap

A mum is constantly being mistaken for her daughter’s sister – despite their 23 year age gap.

Single mum Joleen Diaz has an extremely close relationship with her daughter Meilani and the pair often go eating out and shopping together – which means they get mistaken for sisters rather than mother and daughter.

However, Meilani doesn’t find this insulting as she’s completely aware that her mum looks fantastic for her age.

The 43-year-old mum said: “I don’t think she minds. While she was growing up, she would often hear people tell me they thought my mother was my sister.

“I was pretty young when I had her, so it’s not entirely impossible that we could be sisters.”

According to Joleen, she has kept her incredibly youthful complexion through a solid skincare regime.

She explained: “I religiously take care of my skin.

“And everyday wash my face in the morning and before I go to bed.

“I began taking care of my skin at a young age, around 12 or 13.

“My mom used to buy Mary Kay [cosmetics] and I would secretly use her skincare products.

“A product that has shown dramatic change for me is tretinoin. Most people know it as Retin-A. I’ve been using it now for about a year and a half, and I’ve seen my skin just get better and better.”

As she lives in California, Joleen has stated it’s important to be extra careful when out and about in the sun, as it can be very damaging and ageing to the skin.

She added: “I absolutely use sunscreen, every day, even on cloudy, rainy days. I also use a vitamin C serum day and night.

“Having good skin gives me confidence, even on the days I don’t look my best.”Meilani has watched her mum’s regime and has taken it on board for the past seven years.

Despite their close friendship, there is still a clear borderline between mum and daughter and friends, as Joleen insists she’d never join her daughter on a night out.

She said: “Meilani and I have never gone clubbing or partying together. And I don’t foresee us doing that anytime in the near future.

“I’ve had my share of doing both – these days I’d rather stay home, drink a nice cup of hot tea, and watch a good movie.”

This mum and daughter aren’t the only ones who get compared to sisters, as one 55-year-old grandma has wowed the internet with her young-looking complexion.
