A mum has been labelled as lazy for admitting to only bathing her kids three times a week and also letting them eat with their bare hands instead of cutlery.
Aussie mum Constance Hall has revealed that as her brood has gotten larger, she’s been cutting corners to make life that little bit easier. However, her idea of cutting corners has not gone down well with everyone after she admitted she only makes her kids bath three times a week.
The blogger shared her secrets on “how she survives” through Mamamia, where the Perth-based mum said how she felt “dishes are the worst part” of dinner.
She explained: “Feast with your hands… I often put [out] a huge pile of vegetables along with another plate of sliced meat or whatever you’re making.”
So that there aren’t any dishes to wash, Constance said she likes to prepare picnic dinners for her family as it “gets it done” as well as being a cheap option and out of the way.
She also revealed that she doesn’t bath the kids every day as skipping a bath “won’t kill them”.
She added: “They don’t have to bath or shower every day. They can quite often skip that part of the routine if it’s getting everyone down. I’m like, ‘Fine, stinky, go to school and gross everyone out’.”
When it comes to clothes – and washing clothes for six kids – the mum had a genius piece of advice to offer up to other parents.
She suggested that parents buy a set of coloured buckets and label one for each child, they can then toss their clothes in their specific bucket. This way, if the kids want anything folding they know which bucket is theirs and can do it themselves.
As well as giving tips on how to make parenting as easy as possible, the mum also said that parents need to make “check out time” for themselves, Constance specifically “checks out” at about 7.30 pm. After this time, the mum said that anything the kids want to do is purely up to them.
She said: “I’m not your mum; I’m not here. I’m not your slave, I’m just a statue of a woman who an hour ago wiped your bum and is now drinking wine chatting on the phone to her sister.”
Constance also shared her views on Facebook, adding: “I share my big family shortcuts in this article. Call me lazy, call me a slummy mummy, but when you have six kids living under your roof things change, you’re kidding yourself if you think that you can give six kids the same life you gave one.
“It’s about f***ing off the shit that doesn’t matter to leave time for the stuff that does.”
Just last month, Constance posted throwback pictures of herself pregnant with her twins, Rumi and Snow, who she had in 2015.
The mum admitted that shortly before the twins arrived, she was suffering from depression and “struggling to survive”.
She said: “So many people thought [this picture] was a beautiful memory, of course it was. To the outside world.
“Inside I was dying. I couldn’t change positions without panting for 5 minutes.
“My depression was through the roof, I cried every day, my two other kids missed their free spirited mum, I couldn’t even get up to answer the door, you can see my swollen lips and fingers but I purposely shadowed my swollen nose and eyes that I could barely open due to fluids in my face.”
This post came not long after the mum criticised midwives during her labour of her son Raja. she claims they refused to let her husband Denim inside the room as “the presence of men was disruptive”.
