An ‘outraged’ mum who interrupted a school board meeting on Covid-19 with a ‘bizarre’ rant has gone viral.

Kara Bell, who is a board candidate for Lake Travis School in Austin, Texas, took the conference in another direction by bringing up anal sex.

She claimed to have found a book called ‘Out of Darkness’ in the library and said she didn’t want children to be getting any ideas.

After reading out an extract of the book, the parent stated: “I do not want my children to learn about anal sex in middle school.

“I’ve never had anal sex. I don’t want to have anal sex. I don’t want my kids having anal sex.

“I want you to start focusing on education and not public health.”

At this point, her microphone was muted and her time at the podium was put to an end.

It has since been confirmed that the book, written by Ashley Hope Pérez, will be pulled from the middle school’s library.

A Lake Travis representative told news outlet KXAN: “A district possesses significant discretion to determine the content of its school libraries.

“A district must, however, exercise its discretion in a manner consistent with the First Amendment.

“A district shall not remove materials from a library for the purpose of denying students access to ideas with which the district disagrees.

“A district may remove materials because they are pervasively vulgar or based solely upon the educational suitability of the books in question.”

The book in question, ‘Out of Darkness,’ was published in 2015 and details ‘a love affair between a teenage Mexican American girl and a teenage African-American boy in 1930s New London, Texas, occurring right up to the 1937 New London School explosion’.
