During his investigation, Dan realises that his son’s death is just the tip of the iceberg. As his research deepens, he realises that his son’s death is just one upon many. A shocking number of teenagers in his area had been prescribed a high powered opioid (OxyContin) by a local pharmacist.

Local teenagers had heard rumours that it was powerful, having similar effects to heroin – in a pill version.

In the documentary trailer, Dan is shown saying: “There was a certain doctor who was using her licence to decimate my community. I couldn’t look the other way.”

To save his community, Dan began the “Pill Mill” investigation. In the documentary, Dan accuses the FBI of being corrupt through his findings in his own personal investigation.

The Netflix synopsis for the show says: ‘After his son’s tragic death, a Louisiana pharmacist goes to extremes to expose the rampant corruption behind the opioid addiction crisis.’
