Netflix’s latest true-crime series will look at the case of Billy Milligan, a sociopath who was diagnosed with 24 personalities.
The four-part series, called Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan will be released on September 22.
In a synopsis accompanying the 2-minute trailer for the show, the streaming service asks: “Have you ever seen someone change personalities right in front of your eyes?”

It adds: “In the late 1970s, an accused serial rapist claims multiple personalities control his behaviour, setting off a legal odyssey that captivates America.”
Milligan was suspected of a number of sexual assaults in Ohio during the 1970s.
The programme features interviews with his family, as well as friends, doctors, and law-enforcement professionals who tried to find out what really happened.
Milligan, who died in 2014, was arrested for three rapes that happened on the campus of Ohio State University.
While building his defence, he was diagnosed with multiple personality disorders by psychologists.
His lawyers pleaded the defence of insanity, arguing that two out of the 24 personalities he was diagnosed with committed the crimes without him being aware of it.
He spent a decade in mental hospitals after being acquitted of the crimes and avoiding prison.
Eventually, he was found innocent. However, in the trailer, a man can be heard saying: “He should have an academy award for his performance.”
It is still debated to this day if he faked suffering from the condition as a cover for being a narcissistic sociopath.
Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan drops on September 22 on Netflix.
