Harry Potter fans are gobsmacked by a new scene that has randomly appeared in Goblet of Fire.

The eight-film saga, which is based on the bestselling novels by J.K. Rowling, is one of the biggest franchises of all time, having grossed $7.7 billion over a 10-year period.

Arguably, the fourth instalment Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) is one of the most popular movies in the series.

So it will come as a surprise for many to find out there’s actually a deleted scene – and it’s left people gobsmacked.

In the fourth film, Harry gets chosen as the fourth participant in the inter-school Triwizard Tournament.

The movie also introduces Ralph Fiennes’ terrifying villain Voldemort.

Although the film came out almost 17 years ago, fans continue to take to TikTok and share moments they haven’t spotted before.

One fan, who goes by the name @kristinamarieclaire, has shared a clip of a scene in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, which shows the wizarding school welcoming the two other schools – Durmstrang Institute and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

The post is captioned: “Part of a video to my cousin, another big HP watcher.

“I was thrown for a loop when this happened it’s a little cringe, not gonna lie.”

In the scene, the other two schools put on a little performance, and then the students of Hogwarts then return the favour by singing the school’s song.

And for those who aren’t major Harry Potter buffs, it’s ‘Hoggy Warty Hogwarts’.

If you don’t recognise it, you’re not alone as people are taking to social media and sharing their confusion.

One fan says: “That’s definitely not on the DVDs!!! I’ve seen the movies a million times. Huge HP fan… what the hell is going on?!”

Another viewer comments: “I… am so confused? I have seen these movies front to back since I was 8 so many times and I’VE NEVER SEEN THIS.”

“I literally watched this movie before New Year’s… it didn’t contain this scene. It feels so made up,” adds a third.

Despite many claiming to have never seen this scene, others have explained that it is actually a moment from the book that was shot for the film but ended up being a deleted scene.

They also explain that when the film is shown on TV, this deleted scene tends to end up being shown.

“Yes. For the TV versions, they added them back in,” one fan shares. “It might just be part of the director’s cut.”

Another person comments: “It’s a deleted scene from the movie that actually happened in the book.”

Someone else adds: “It is a deleted scene that must be a director’s cut. It was actually in the first book though I like that they filmed it at least, even though they cut it.”
