People Left Disgusted At Sheer Size Of Death Row Killer’s Last Meal
People have been left disgusted at the sheer size of a death row killer’s last meal.
Louis Bernard Gaskin was convicted for the murder of Robert Sturmfels, 56, and Georgette Sturmfels, 55, back in 1989.
He shot the pair with a .22-caliber rifle in their Flagler County winter home, where they were visiting from New Jersey.
Gaskin was reported to have stolen a clock, two lamps, and a videocassette recorder from their home, which were all later found at his residence.
He garnered the nickname ‘Black Ninja’ due to donning all-black ninja clothing when he committed his crimes.
At the time, local media reported that Gaskin quickly confessed to the crimes, and he revealed to a psychologist before his trial that he knew what he was doing.
According to AP News, Gaskin said: “The guilt was always there.
“The devil had more of a hold than God did. I knew that I was wrong. I wasn’t insane.”
But it was his enormous final meal that really got the internet’s attention.
While Gaskin enjoyed a feast, one death row inmate suffered an ‘excruciating’ death after making a ‘mistake’ with his last meal.
Wesley Ira Purkey, 68, was placed on death row after he kidnapped, r**ed and killed schoolgirl Jennifer Long in 1998, along with murdering Mary Bales with a clear hammer.
He was executed in 2020 after being given a lethal injection of pentobarbital, which gives the sensation of drowning.
For his last meal, Purkey – who is believed to have suffered from dementia – reportedly asked for pecan pie.
But he never got to eat it as he asked to have it ‘later’ – unaware that there would be no ‘later.’
Gaskin was executed on April 12 after he received the lethal injection at 6:15 p.m. after being on death row for 33 years.
He had his last meal at 9:45 a.m., and according to Department of Corrections spokesperson Kayla McLaughlin Smith, his last meal was certainly a sizable one.
Many people have taken to social media and said they have been left angry by the quality of food inmates can receive on death row.
One person says: “I can never understand how prisoners awaiting execution could even want to eat a last meal. Let alone a feast.”
Another adds: “Man eats better on death row than I do with no felonies.”
A third pens: “I can never understand how prisoners awaiting execution could even want to eat a last meal.”
“They should’ve fed this scum a bowl of plain oatmeal and a bag of rice cakes,” slams somebody else.
In a press conference, it was revealed that Gaskin’s meal included BBQ pork ribs, pork and turkey neck, Buffalo wings, shrimp fried rice, French fries, and water.
