Donald Trump has being mocked online after Karoline Leavitt shared a series of photos from the US president’s new Air Force One.

The White House Press Secretary recently returned to work from maternity leave, following the birth of her second child, Viviana, on May 1.

The 28-year-old shares two children with husband Nicholas Riccio, with their eldest, Niko, born in July 2024.

When Leavitt first fell pregnant, she became the first sitting press secretary to be pregnant while holding the role.

Since then, she has spoken candidly about the balancing act that is being a mom and having such a demanding job in national politics.

However, she has praised the White House’s ‘pro-family’ environment.

Leavitt’s pregnancy attracted major media attention

The mom-of-two went on maternity leave back in April of this year, but ever since she announced her second pregnancy in late 2025, she and her husband received a lot of media attention.

One reason being the high-profile role she has in the Trump administration and another being the 32 year age gap between her and her husband.

They tied the knot in January 2025, however they met in 2022 when Leavitt was first running for a Congress seat in New Hampshire and they became engaged the following year.

Riccio, 60, owns his own real estate company, something which Leavitt has credited as helping them progress in their relationship.

While appearing on the The Megyn Kelly Show, she admitted it is an ‘atypical’ love story, but said: “He’s built a very successful business himself, so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career.”

A fierce defender of Donald Trump

During her time as press secretary and previously as Trump’s campaigh spokesperson, Leavitt has faced a number of different controversies.

She has frequently been accused of having a confrontational relationship with the media, including one incident which saw her named as a defendant in a lawsuit following a dispute with the Associated Press over a dispute of the use of the term ‘Gulf of America’.

In another incident, her office was accused of sidelining reporters who listed pronouns in their bios, which opponents called discriminatory.

Leavitt’s defenders argue that the many attacks on the Press Secretary are politically motivated and view her aggressive style as effective advocacy for the Trump administration.

Some critics see her as emblematic of increasingly combative political communication.

One thing that has remained consistent, however, is Leavitt’s fierce defense of Trump. She is often the first to defend him at press briefings during his many controversies.

Earlier this year, she asked a reporter if they were ‘kidding’ during a briefing when they asked about Trump suggesting he had falsely been accused of racism.

Trump mocked over Leavitt’s photos

Despite their close working relationship, Leavitt’s recent social media post has led to the president being mocked by people on the internet.

Posting three photos from inside the new Air Force One, she wrote on X: “What a privilege to be aboard the inaugural flight on the brand new Air Force One! A truly unforgettable day.”

The plane, which has been fitted with ‘presidential aesthetic,’ was gifted to the US from Qatar.

Many people have criticized the decision to accept the gift, suggesting Qatar is using it to be owed a favor from the US president.

It features, white grain leather trim on the meeting tables, pillows embroidered with the presidential seal, and framed photographs of Washington landmarks dotted around the cabin.

However, many social media users noted one key detail from inside the plane, which the White House may have preferred to keep hidden.

In one photo, a TV screen displaying the presidential seal sits in front of a bookshelf which appears to be filled with matching hardback books.

But when people took a closer look, they realised several of the books appear to simply read ‘library’ on the spine, with no mention of an author or title, or even publisher.

“Of course a plane full of people who have never read a book has a bookshelf of fake books with titles like ‘Library’,” one person commented, while another suggested the bookshelf was: “A perfect representation of the Trump administration… all show and no substance.”

A third joked: “Volume III of the Library is a real nail-biter.”
