True Extent Of Kate Middleton’s Cancer Battle Leaves Fans Heartbroken
The severity of Kate Middleton’s battle with cancer has never been revealed.
Royal fans were left heartbroken during 2024, when the Princess of Wales announced that she had been battling cancer.

In a clip revealing the devastating news, Middleton said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful.
“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
The princess kept details of her illness extremely private, after months of speculation as to why she had been missing from public engagements.
Eventually, she was left with no option than to film a clip for the royal’s Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, explaining how ill she really was.
Despite the emotional admission, the mother-of-three made a surprising appearance at the 2024 Trooping the Colour, looking radiant as ever.
But fans had no idea what was really going on behind the scenes.
The princess had been ‘to hell and back,’ according to sources.
Canceled plans
Earlier this year, the royal canceled plans at the last minute to attend Ascot, a famous British horse racing event, which caused ‘panic’ inside the palace.
A well-connected source stated that Middleton is set to ‘dramatically scale back’ her public appearances for the rest of 2025, as a reminder of just how ill she was this time last year.
Instead, she will be much more intentional going forward with the projects that she dedicates her time to.
It’s thought that princess is especially interested in early years learning, and the development of children.
The true extent of her battle
However, as per the Daily Mail, details about the true extent of her battle with the condition as a mom-of-three have now been revealed.
They reported that Middleton had been fitted with a ‘semi-permanent port into her chest,’ that administered chemotherapy medication throughout her treatment.
Royal editor Rebecca English said: “This small device was inserted under the skin and kept in place until her treatment (delivered via the port through a special needle and a thin tube in a vein close to the heart) was over, several weeks later.”
The expert noted that even for a royal, there is no guaranteed success of survival.
Revealing the true extent of what was allegedly going on behind the scenes, English said that Middleton ‘is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery.’
How long it will be before the princess is ready to return to her pre-cancer workload is largely unknown, given the unpredictability of cancer.
Out of choice rather than illness, it’s unlikely she ever will.
It was never revealed which cancer exactly she had been diagnosed with, despite speculation.
Fans were heartbroken to learn details of the severity of her illness, and the impact it’s had on her life behind closed doors.
One wrote: “Continued prayers for health. Get well, princess, the world needs you.”
As another said: “This is incredibly brave of you to share after these past few months.
“My thoughts are with you and your family Catherine. We love you.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and children, and the whole country is behind you,” a third added.
Another said: “Ma’am, as a member of the public and great supporter of The Royal Family: All the best wishes for a speedy recovery. I know you will be okay.”
Prince William speaks out
Her husband, Prince William, also recently spoke out in a rare interview about how ‘difficult’ that time was for their close family, especially while King Charles battled the same illness.
In a candid conversation with actor Eugene Levy for Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler, he admitted: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful.
“From a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
