There has been a major development in the ICE shooting of Alex Pretti as more devastating details about the case emerge.

Two US citizens have died this year as a result of ICE brutality in the streets, as calls for officers to retreat from states grow louder.

Just days ago (January 24), intensive care nurse Pretti was fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis, following the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good in the same city on January 7.

Thousands of Americans have taken to the streets as a result of the brutality, with many claiming that the officers completely abused their positions of power in both tragic incidents.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration suggest agents are simply ‘doing their job.’

Senior officials in the administration branded both Pretti and Good as ‘domestic terrorists’ without evidence, and many are now calling for a full investigation into their deaths.

And following major backlash from many Democrats as well as some prominent Republican figures, it seems the President has now backtracked on his administration’s original narrative.

Trump backtracks

Following national outrage over the extent of ICE’s brutality in recent weeks, the President has finally decided to remove some federal law enforcement officers from Minnesota.

Now in its ninth week, the operation has been marked by soaring tensions after the fatal shootings of two US citizens.

Trump released a statement on Tuesday (January 27), announcing plans to remove ICE agents from Minnesota.

Instead, the President will allow the local police to investigate Pretti’s killing.

But it wasn’t the only bombshell move made following the nurse’s death.

Trump also announced that he had fired the Border Patrol Commander leading the operation in Minnesota, Gregory Bovino.

The federal agent, who has been stripped of his ‘commander at large’ title, has been replaced by Trump’s ‘border tsar’ Tom Homan, who the President has described as ‘tough but fair.’

In the statement, he said: “I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight.

“He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.”

The President later said he had held ‘productive discussions’ with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and noted that the situation was improving.

ICE faces huge backlash following shooting

Following the two fatal shootings, ICE has faced major backlash.

While Democrats have called out their brutality and abuse of power, many well-respected Republican politicians are also not comfortable, it seems, with their behavior.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), one of the most powerful political organizations in the US, has also turned against the Trump administration on the point of ICE.

The group, which campaigns for gun rights across the US, has spoken out against the shooting of Pretti in Minneapolis, demanding a ‘full investigation’ of the incident.

Given that Pretti was licensed to carry a gun in Minneapolis, the NRA have claimed that the rhetoric around Pretti being shot because he was carrying a gun is ‘dangerous and wrong.’

What is the major update?

A government report has led to a major development in the case, which was presented to Congress this week.

The report provides the most comprehensive official account yet of Pretti’s killing, which itself has sparked major debate across America.

The document suggests that there was an ongoing protest when an agent ordered two women to move out of their way.

When they refused, the officer allegedly pushed them, and one woman ran towards Pretti.

When Pretti and the woman refused to move, the agent allegedly used pepper spray, and officers tried to take Pretti into custody, which led to a struggle.

While they attempted to restrain him, one officer noticed that Pretti was carrying a gun, which they repeated numerous times.

Multiple shots were fired at that moment, killing the nurse, who had already been disarmed.

But in a major update, it’s been made known that it was actually two officers who fired their weapons during the attack.

The report, obtained by CBS, also had no mention of Pretti reaching for his firearm during the struggle, despite officers claiming that they fired in self-defense.

And other devastating details about the case have since emerged, with one eyewitness alleging that officers ‘maneuvered his body around like a rag doll’ following his death.

Speaking to CNN, the eyewitness claimed: “They wanted to count the bullet wounds to see how many they got, like he was a deer.”

The President has since stated that there will be a full investigation into Pretti’s death.
