A documentary about Princess Diana could land Prince Harry in hot water if he goes ahead with a Netflix deal, a royal source has warned.

Prince Harry could find himself in ‘enormous danger,’ amid talks of a documentary about Princess Diana to mark 30 years following her tragic death.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in discussion with Netflix regarding an anniversary documentary, that would be released in 2027.

A royal source allegedly told The Sun: “If Harry wants to do it then Netflix will bite his hand off.”

But if the royal duo were to go ahead with filming, it could land Prince Harry in some very hot water indeed.

While the documentary is currently unconfirmed, Prince Harry and Markle’s contract with the streaming platform gives them the first option on what they produce.

The insider continued: “Netflix’s Chief of Content, Bella Bajaria, has recently praised the enormous success of their highly controversial six-part docuseries Harry and Meghan.

“They want something royal from the couple whose royal links are their only claim to fame.

“This (a Diana documentary) could be it.”

But the documentary could mean Prince Harry kisses goodbye to any chance of reconciliation with his family.

Speaking to The Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “If the proposed documentary featured anything controversial, it would gravely endanger the reconciliation Harry has said he wants with his family.

“Although, it would undoubtedly draw the audience Netflix wants.”

He added: “This programme, especially now that Camilla, the woman she (Diana) regarded as her rival, is now Queen Consort, also, potentially, has enormous dangers for Harry’s future relationships with his family.

“If reconciliation is desirable, but seems unlikely, peace is essential.

“This (the documentary), if it happens, could restart conflict.”

Neither Meghan nor Harry have confirmed or spoken about the documentary, but it seems that the appetite for the film is definitely there.

Fitzwilliams wrote: “Diana was like a meteor.

“She was the world’s most glamorous woman, whose charitable activities have rightly become legendary, but who was also manipulative and had a fatefully symbiotic relationship with the media.

“The War of the Waleses, between her and Prince Charles, which ended in divorce, was ferocious at the time.”

With tensions high between the royals, it seems like that the decision to go ahead with the documentary would be make or break.

A source has noted that Prince William will be uneasy about Harry ‘claiming her legacy,’ and will feel bound to respond with his own contribution if Harry goes ahead.

William also made it very clear at the time of their 20th anniversary film, that it would be the last time they spoke about it publicly.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry said the official explanation of her death ‘was an insult.’

He added: “Fanciful, riddled with factual errors and gaping logical holes, it raised more questions than it answered.”
