Queen Camilla‘s reported two-word response to Kate Middleton‘s cancer announcement has been revealed.

It’s been more than a year since the Princess of Wales announced to the world that she was undergoing cancer treatment, in a candid video filmed in the gardens of Windsor Castle.

Revealing the devastating news in March 2024, she said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful.

“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She added: “It has taken us time to explain everything to GeorgeCharlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.”

In September, Middleton announced that her treatment was complete, but the Princess shared that she underestimated how hard the aftermath would be.

Speaking about the recovery, she commented: “You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment.

“Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

The 43-year-old added: “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

Following the difficult year, Buckingham Palace announced on her behalf that Middleton would be more selective with the public engagements she was involved with going forward.

She has since described recovery as a ‘roller coaster,’ but it’s not just her who has been battling the disease.

Her father-in-law, King Charles, was diagnosed with a publicly-unknown form of cancer during the same year.

Middleton made another video to announce that her treatment was complete in September 2024, filled with adorable family moments and clips of the Princess reflecting on her journey.

But while many were left moved by the clip, one member of the royal family made a rather questionable comment after watching the emotional video.

Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine claimed that Queen Camilla had some scathing words to describe the wholesome video.

She claimed that the footage reminded her of a ‘shampoo commercial.’

The columnist added: “After watching last year’s rather syrupy video of the Waleses frolicking in the wilds of Norfolk the Queen – having first expressed her relief that the Princess’s cancer treatment had been successful – then quipped that it reminded her of a ‘shampoo commercial.'”

She further noted that the Queen’s comment ‘wouldn’t have been said to wound, but to amuse, to put people at their ease, and to lighten the mood.’

In the emotional video, Middleton said that her cancer treatment had given her a ‘renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.’
