Flags Flown At Half-Mast Amid ‘King Charles Is Dead’ Rumors
Flags across the UK have been flown at half-mast amid rumors of King Charles‘ death circulating online.
Earlier last year, it was announced that the King had been diagnosed with cancer and has since been receiving the very best treatment.
It has not been confirmed what type of cancer the 76-year-old was diagnosed with; however, he has been relatively vocal about his journey with the disease.
King Charles wasn’t the only royal to announce a cancer diagnosis last year.
Kate Middleton also announced that she had been battling cancer in March 2024, which she has since spoken of in a rare statement.
Rumors of King Charles’ death began to circulate on social media just yesterday (October 6), as people searched the terms ‘king dead,’ ‘is king charles dead,’ and ‘is king charles still alive.’
There were over 20,000 searches for King Charles in the last 24 hours, with the subject of his supposed death also trending on TikTok.
It led people to become concerned about the health of His Majesty, given that flags around the UK were flying at half-mast on Friday (October 3).
Flags are usually flown at half-mast to pay respect to a member of the royal family who has died, demonstrated earlier last month when the Duchess of Kent passed away.
However, it was made known that flags were flown at half-mast following the terror attack which occurred in Manchester on Thursday (October 2).
The government website read: “Flags will be flown at half mast on UK government buildings until 20:00 on Friday 3 October 2025.”
In a short statement to IGV, the palace has responded to distressing rumors concerning King Charles.
A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace said: “We would not comment on rumour or speculation of this sort.”
King Charles’ calendar is available for public view, and it seems that he hasn’t got any engagements or visits planned for the foreseeable future.
However, contrary to the above, a recent press release states that Their Majesties The King and Queen will undertake a state visit to the Holy See in late October 2025.
It read: “The King and Queen will join His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in celebrating the 2025 Jubilee Year.”
