Meghan Markle Fuels Divorce Rumors With Instagram Return Blunder
People are convinced Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are ‘divorcing’ after finding ‘proof’ on Instagram.
The Duchess of Sussex has made a surprise return to the social media platform after deactivating her previous profile three months before her 2018 wedding.
Her return to Instagram has piqued many people’s interest, leading some fans to spot an awkward blunder.
Markle and Prince Harry previously shared an Instagram account titled ‘Kensington Royal‘ with the duke’s elder brother, Prince William, and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, before launching their independent profile ‘Sussex Royal,’ reports People magazine.
When the couple stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020, the couple deactivated this account.
Markle and Prince Harry said they decided to step away from royal duties following intense media scrutiny and a desire for more privacy to protect their young children, Archie and Lilibet.
They also wanted to build their public image without the constraints of the royal family protocols.
Despite stepping back from royal life and starting afresh in California, the duke and duchess are continuously front and center in the media.
Markle and Prince Harry recently made headlines following reports of a ‘professional separation’ regarding their careers.
During the second half of 2024, the pair focused on building individual brands rather than chasing a power couple status.
Following such reports came divorce rumors, which Prince Harry has quickly shut down.
In a recent appearance, the duke drew attention to the absurdity of such speculation by saying: “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house maybe 10 or 12 times, and we’ve apparently divorced maybe 10 or 12 times as well. So, it’s just like, ‘what?’ It’s hard to keep up.”
He added: “I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid. I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t exactly based on reality.”
Although Prince Harry has dismissed such claims, some believe the couple are separating following Markle’s shock return to Instagram.
Many fans are glad to see Markle’s return, with one penning: “About time really. Meghan Markle has dealt with enough to last her a lifetime.”
Another person comments: “Her return to Instagram may bring back not just her presence, but also the potential for meaningful dialogue and advocacy.”
“Meghan Markle survived and thrived! No one and no amount of British press will dim her light,” a third writes.
The Duchess of Sussex has returned to the platform with two uploads.
One shows Markle running in an all-white outfit on a beach before reaching down to write 2025 in the sand while another promotes her upcoming Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
Yet what has stood out to many is a small detail in Markle’s Instagram bio that unintentionally suggests she has separated from Prince Harry.
Royal protocol enthusiasts noted that the Suits actress used a title typically reserved for royal divorcees.
When Markle returned to Instagram, her profile initially displayed her first name only before being updated to ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.’
As one person points out: “Hopefully we will see another update, as she left out the ‘The’ in her title. No ‘The’ before Duchess of Sussex means she is a divorcee.”
Referencing how Prince Andrew’s ex-wife is known as Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, another adds: “Meghan’s title is ‘Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.’ She has ‘The’ as she is the spouse of the current title holder. Sarah has no ‘The’ as a divorcee.”
