Rudy Giuliani’s Rep Issues Major Update As He’s In Critical Condition
Rudy Giuliani’s rep has issued a major update as he’s hospitalized in critical condition.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, one of the most recognizable and polarizing figures in modern American politics, has been hospitalized in Florida at the age of 81, prompting concern across political circles and beyond.
While details about his condition remain limited, the development has renewed attention on his decades-long public life—from his rise as a hard-charging federal prosecutor to his tenure as mayor during one of the most defining moments in US history, and his later role as a close ally of President Donald Trump.
Giuliani’s career has spanned law enforcement, politics, media, and legal controversy, making him a central figure in multiple chapters of recent American history.
The latest update from his representatives comes after years of both public acclaim and intense scrutiny.
From prosecutor to ‘America’s mayor’
A native New Yorker, Giuliani first rose to prominence as a US Attorney in the 1980s, where he built a reputation for aggressively prosecuting organized crime figures, corrupt politicians, and Wall Street insiders.
His high-profile cases and media-savvy approach made him a household name long before he entered electoral politics.
In 1993, Giuliani was elected mayor of New York City, taking office at a time when the city was grappling with high crime rates and economic challenges.
Over two terms, he championed policies focused on policing, public safety, and urban reform. Supporters credited his administration with helping to reduce crime and improve quality of life across the city.
However, it was the events of September 11, 2001, that would define Giuliani’s legacy. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, he became widely known as ‘America’s Mayor’ for his visible leadership and steady public presence during a time of national crisis, per the Independent.
His handling of the tragedy earned bipartisan praise and cemented his status as a national figure.
Political ambitions and shifting influence
Following his mayoralty, Giuliani sought to expand his political career on the national stage.
He launched a bid for the US Senate in 2000 but withdrew after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Years later, he mounted a campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.
Despite early frontrunner status, his campaign faltered, and he ultimately withdrew after a disappointing showing in the Florida primary.
In the years that followed, Giuliani remained active in political commentary and consulting.
His influence saw a resurgence during Donald Trump’s rise to power. Giuliani became a key ally and legal advisor to Trump, particularly during the 2016 presidential campaign and throughout Trump’s presidency.
He later played a central role in efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Acting as a leading figure in Trump’s legal team, Giuliani repeatedly alleged widespread voter fraud. These claims, however, were not substantiated in court, with multiple lawsuits failing and reviews finding no significant evidence of wrongdoing.
Legal battles and controversy
Giuliani’s involvement in post-election litigation brought significant legal consequences.
Two Georgia election workers successfully sued him for defamation, resulting in a judgment of $148 million.
The case stemmed from false claims that they had manipulated election results, allegations that led to harassment and threats against them.
In the aftermath, Giuliani faced mounting legal and financial pressure. He was held in contempt of court during proceedings related to the case and later reached a settlement allowing him to retain certain personal assets in exchange for compensation and an agreement to cease defamatory statements.
Despite these challenges, Giuliani maintained that his actions were justified. At the time, his spokesperson stated: “Mayor Rudy Giuliani stands by his work following the 2020 presidential election, when he responded to the legitimate concerns of thousands of everyday Americans.”
He was also granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump in 2025, alongside other members of Trump’s legal team connected to efforts to contest the election outcome.

Previous health scares and setbacks
Giuliani’s current hospitalization is not the first health-related concern in recent years. In August 2025, he was seriously injured in a car crash in New Hampshire.
The incident left him with a fractured thoracic vertebra, along with multiple cuts and injuries to his arm and leg.
According to reports at the time, Giuliani had stopped to assist a woman fleeing a domestic violence situation before the crash occurred.
After calling emergency services and remaining at the scene, he later resumed travel, only for his vehicle to be struck from behind on a highway.
He was hospitalized and later released, eventually appearing at a 9/11 memorial event in New York City as he continued his recovery.
Giuliani’s rep issues health update
The latest update regarding Giuliani’s condition came from his spokesperson, who confirmed the seriousness of the situation while emphasizing stability. In a statement, the representative said per the Huffington Post: “Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.”
The spokesperson added: “Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak.”
Supporters were also urged to keep him in their thoughts, with the statement continuing: “We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani.”
At this stage, it remains unclear what led to Giuliani’s hospitalization. There has been no official confirmation regarding the cause, duration of his stay, or long-term prognosis.
The lack of detail has led to speculation, though no verified information has been released beyond the initial statement.
Just days before the news broke, Giuliani appeared on his online show America’s Mayor Live, where he acknowledged feeling unwell.
During the broadcast, he told viewers: “My voice is a little under the weather, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as I usually do, but I’ll get closer to the microphone.” Observers noted that he appeared hoarse and coughed during the program.
Reaction to the news has come from across the political spectrum. Donald Trump described Giuliani as ‘a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR,’ adding: “What a tragedy… and now, look at Rudy. So sad!” Meanwhile, others have offered more measured messages of support, emphasizing Giuliani’s decades of public service.
