Father Of Missing Woman Found Dead Amid Desperate Search To Find His Daughter
Missing Hannah Kobayashi’s father has tragically died amid the ongoing search efforts for his daughter.
Ryan Kobayashi, 58, was reportedly found dead in the early hours of Sunday just days after handing out missing person flyers to people in the streets of Los Angeles.
Hannah was last seen on November 11, boarding a train at Metro Pico station in L.A., three days after missing a connecting flight to New York at LAX.
A security camera captured her disembarking her Hawaii flight wearing a black hoodie, colorful sweatpants, and headphones.
The 30-year-old, who was scheduled to meet family in New York, never boarded the connecting flight.
Hannah’s last communication was reportedly a cryptic series of texts to loved ones claiming she’d undergone a ‘spiritual awakening.’
Her family has since accused the LAPD of being slow to act, claiming they weren’t contacted for ten days after filing the report, as per the Daily Mail.
Hannah’s dad was estranged from his daughter for much of her life, however, he flew to L.A. to assist in the search.
According to family members, his dedication was unwavering despite their past relationship.
Hannah’s aunt Larie Pidgeon said: “He wasn’t there for her growing up, but when it mattered, he showed up.”
The family worked tirelessly, distributing flyers, reviewing surveillance footage, and meeting with volunteers.
Ryan pushed himself to the limit, reportedly sleeping less than 30 minutes a night as he explored dangerous areas like Skid Row, hoping to find any trace of his daughter.
According to the Daily Mail, Ryan was found dead near LAX, one of the last places his daughter was seen.
The 58-year-old reportedly died by s**cide on Saturday night, a tragic end to an exhausting search for his missing daughter.
Pidgeon recounted: “Ryan didn’t want anyone else to worry, but he bottled it all up. None of us saw it coming.”
She added: “He just broke. He died of a broken heart.”
Ryan’s younger daughter, 22-year-old Sydni, joined relatives in L.A. to continue the search.
“She’s devastated,” Pidgeon said. “It feels like a nightmare we can’t wake up from.”
The Kobayashi family is determined to keep searching for Hannah, with Pidgeon pleading: “We need your help to share this story.”
Before his death, Ryan echoed this sentiment in an interview, saying: “We will do everything we can until we have found her. We just need to get the word out.”
Ryan’s untimely death has only deepened the family’s resolve.
As Pidgeon puts it: “We’ve suffered two tragedies, but we’re doing everything we can to stay strong and find Hannah.”
