A Teenager tragically died in his twin brother’s arms after being ‘attacked’ at a track meet.

17-year-old Austin Metcalf was a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, Texas

His twin brother Hunter described him as ‘extremely smart’ and a ‘highly recruited’ football player.

Hunter remembers him as ‘just a great person overall’ who was ‘always there’ to check on him, to keep him straight, so Hunter wouldn’t ‘get in trouble.’

On Wednesday morning, Metcalf’s twin was an eyewitness to his brother’s brutal attack at Kuykendall Stadium.

Metcalf’s mother, Meghan, shared on The Will Cain Show: “My son is gone, and I don’t really have words.

“He’s just going to be so missed by mostly our family, but this whole community has really wrapped their arms around us.

“If I could say anything to the nation, I would say to make sure that you just hug your babies tight, because you don’t know when [is] the last time you get to do it.”

On the same show, Hunter retold the tragic events that unfolded. The altercation originally began due to a seating dispute as the teams waited for the delayed competition to begin.

Metcalf’s twin shared that the two brothers had noticed the suspect near their team tent, and the situation escalated when the suspect was questioned.

Hunter recounts: “My brother stepped in. He started being how he always is. We’re just brothers, just having my back.

“Things started getting more, like, higher intensity, and the kid said some, like, aggressive stuff — like, reckless stuff — and Austin tried to handle the problem.”

The Frisco Police confirmed the news: “On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Frisco Police and Fire responded to an incident at a track meet in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane.”

Tragically, the altercation would be fatal.

Hunter shared the final moments with his twin: “I whipped my head around, and then all of a sudden I see him running down the bleachers just grabbing his chest.

“I put my hand on there, tried to make it [the bleeding] stop, and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave, and it took my soul, too.”

Despite lifesaving measures by the police and fire department, including CPR and the administration of blood, Metcalf died at the scene in his brother’s arms after being fatally stabbed by another student.

17-year-old Karmelo Anthony of Frisco has been identified as the suspect, stabbing Metcalf to death during the track meet.

Anthony is in custody and has been charged with murder, a 1st degree Felony. He is on a $1 million bond.

Jeff Metcalf, the victim’s father, spoke to Fox News about the altercation, sharing that the perpetrator had been sitting under another team’s pop-up tent as it had been raining.

“He asked him to leave [Metcalf], and he basically said, ‘Make me.’ And then he wound up stabbing him in the heart and killing him all over someone sitting in the wrong spot at a track meet,” Jeff recalls.

Despite the horrific murder of his child, Jeff says he forgives Anthony: “I’ve already forgiven the person that stabbed him. God’s gonna take care of everything. God’s taking care of my son.

“I feel for their family because now their son will probably wind up in prison and learn that he killed someone, and he devastated and took my son that I can never get back.”

In a heartbreaking final post just days before the devastation, Metcalf wrote to X (formerly known as Twitter): “Faith that god got me and my work will pay off.”

Metcalf is survived by his mother Meghan, father Jeff, and twin brother Hunter.
