JD Vance’s Wife Issues Statement After Being Spotted Without Wedding Ring
Usha Vance has issued a statement after being spotted without her wedding ring, following rumors that she and Vice President JD Vance have split.
The Second Lady, 39, has been pictured numerous times without her wedding ring.
It comes after users online have suggested Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in the neck earlier this year, ‘inappropriately’ hugged the Vice President during a recent event.
Kirk was speaking at a university event when 22-year-old Tyler Robinson fatally targeted him.
Robinson now faces charges of murder, causing bodily injury with a firearm, and obstruction of justice.
The rumors
Following Kirks death, rumors have spiraled that his widow, Erika, and Vance are secretly plotting a relationship, where Vance will eventually run for President with Erika as his First Lady.
But given that Vance and Kirk had a long-standing friendship before his brutal death, the situation feels bizarre.
Testament to their friendship was the moment Vance ensured Kirk’s body was transported back to his family home in Arizona on board Air Force Two.
But the ‘awkward’ hug went viral online, as Erika and Vance strangely pressed their bodies up against one another.
During the moment, Erika brought her hand up to Vance’s hair, and Vance’s hand dropped to her hip as they let go.
Viral reaction
One user on X (formerly Twitter) said: “Erika Kirk with an inappropriate greeting in Mississippi – a romantic like bear hug & over the top hair grab on JD Vance. Too passionate.”
Another added: “The way Erika Kirk and JD Vance hugged was inappropriate.”
In the months that followed her loss, Vance has been a comforting support to Erika, who is navigating the grief while raising her two young children.
And Erika herself has spoken fondly of the Vice President following her husband’s death.
During an interview on Fox News, she said: “No one will ever replace Charlie….but I do see some similarities of my husband in Vice President JD Vance.”
Speaking in a different Fox News interview about JD and Usha, Erika added: “He’s been a blessing. He and Usha, they are the most incredible people. Incredible.
“I mean, just everything they did for us was so humanized. They were there for us. They’ve been there for us.”
Body language expert Karen Donaldson then commented on the moment, and concluded: “Could it be a deep friendship? Yeah.
“Could it be more than that? Absolutely.
“Is there any one move that says, ‘Hey, they’re a couple now?’ No, there’s not.”
Why is Usha Vance not wearing her ring?
However, one move that has got everyone talking is from JD’s wife, Usha.
She has also been publicly seen supporting Erika in the wake of Kirk’s death.
However, the Second Lady has been spotted numerous times without her wedding ring recently, which has only added fuel to the fire of rumors.
During a visit to a military training facility in Jacksonville alongside first lady Melania Trump last week (November 19), Usha appeared not to be wearing her wedding ring.
And amid the speculation, her spokesperson has since released a statement addressing the rumors.
Usha and JD have been married since 2014, and share three children: sons Ewan, eight, and Vivek, five, and daughter Mirabel, three.
But it’s not the first time that their relationship has been up for public debate.
Similar rumors spiraled when Vance made some questionable comments about his wife’s religion.
After a student asked the vice president about his multi-faith household, he admitted he hopes that Usha, who was raised and still considers herself Hindu, will one day convert to Catholicism as he did.
He said: “Most Sundays, Usha will come with me to church.
“Do I hope, eventually, that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in by church?
“Yeah, honestly, I do wish that, because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way.”
He added: “But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me.”
In the statement addressing why Usha hasn’t been wearing her ring, her rep said: “She’s a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”
