Nigel Farage has defended Molly-Mae Hague after she faced an intense backlash over ‘tone-deaf‘ comments on privilege.

The reality TV star has been dubbed a ‘modern-day Margaret Thatcher’ after making several remarks in a podcast, including: “We all have the same 24 hours in a day.”

Hearing the criticism against Hague, the former UKIP leader spoke out and said the 22-year-old Creative Director of PrettyLittleThing is on the ‘right track’ to success.

In a post that has been shared onto Thrillz – where people can purchase personalised messages from celebrities – he reportedly said: “Her comment that we all have the same 24 hours every day, what’s she saying?

“She’s saying that any of us – if we work hard, have a bit of luck, and have got ability, regardless of our backgrounds, regardless of who we are – can go out there in the world and succeed.

“It’s all about having dreams, having ambitions. Yeah sure, not everyone can make it. But for goodness sake, in criticising Molly-Mae you’re taking away people’s dreams. Don’t do that.”

He added: “Molly-Mae is on the right track.”

The backlash all started when the former Love Islander was interviewed for The Diary Of A CEO podcast by Dragon’s Den investor Steven Bartlett.

In the chat, she said: “You’re given one life and it’s down to you what you do with it. You can literally go in any direction.

“When I’ve spoken about that in the past I have been slammed a little bit, with people saying ‘It’s easy for you to say that because you’ve not grown up in poverty, so for you to sit there and say we all have the same 24 hours in a day is not correct’.

“But, technically, what I’m saying is correct. We do.”
