Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has come out as gay.
Schnapp, 18, is best known for playing Will Byers in the hit Netflix series, as well as his breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s film Bridge of Spies (2015).
Previously, the young actor has said that his Stranger Things character is gay, but is ‘terrified’ to come out.
And now Schnapp has come out of the closet himself, revealing it in a special TikTok update.
Watch as Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp says the series ‘should end soon’…
Making a reference to Byers, he captioned the clip: “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”
While the text overlay on the nine-second video read: “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’.”
In the video, Schnapp also mouths along to a TikTok noise that says ‘you know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious’.

Fans are also taking to social media and saying they hope Schnapp’s Stranger Things character will also gain the same confidence and courage to come out too.
Back in July, Schnapp sat down with Variety and confirmed that Byers is gay and in love with his best friend, Mike Wheeler.
He said it’s ‘100 per cent clear’, saying: “It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?
“Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing.

“Now it’s 100 per cent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc.
“I think it is done so beautifully because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.”
Fans of the series have thought for a long time that Byers has had feelings for Wheeler (who is played by Finn Wolfhard).
They were especially convinced by this following a touching scene in the back of the van during season four.
