A nurse who didn’t know she was dating a convicted murderer, who she met on a Russian dating app, came home to discover he had raped and murdered her daughters.
Valentina Saprunova had no idea that the man she had met over a dating app in Russia was convicted child rapist and murderer. Horrifically, she arrived home one day and found that her two daughters had been knifed to death.
Police in Russia has now launched a manhunt for Vitaly Molchanov, 41, who has disappeared after murdering Yana Saprunova, 13, and Elena Saprunavoa, eight.
A month before the death of her daughters, Valentina, 40, and her two girls had uprooted 1,600 miles from their Siberian home after the nurse became convinced she had met the love of her life.
Valentina and her daughters moved into her new boyfriend’s flat and she took a job at the local hospital in Rybinsk, in the Yaroslavl region. One day, she came home from work to find both her girls had been “literally shredded” by a knife.
It has been reported that her lover fled the scene on a white bicycle.
The Russian Investigative Committee has described the double child murder as “committed with extreme cruelty” and have now opened a criminal case.
Around six months ago, Valentina had been Vitaly through a dating app used in Russia.
In a discussion they had around March, before having moved in together, Vitaly told Valentina: “This is my girlfriend, this is very sad that we are in different cities, but I love her and we can solve all the other issues.”
However, the mum had no idea about her new boyfriend’s past convictions for child rape and murder.
Reports state that he had been released from prison after serving a long sentence for his shocking crimes.
A local newspaper report said: “Vitaly carefully concealed his criminal past from his girlfriend.
“Otherwise, this woman, knowing the crimes for which her lover was sentenced, would in all probability not agree to uproot from the Omsk region to Rybinsk and with her two children to move in with him.”
In a statement released by the Russian Investigative Committee, the forensic evidence established that the two girls had been raped before being killed.
Police have said that the missing suspect will be facing two charges of sexual violence.
Apparently, Vitaly had been released from prison last December and had served a sentence for “especially grave crimes, including murder”.
Previously, it had been thought that he had been released in 2010.
A police statement said: “At present, operational search measures are being carried out aimed at establishing his whereabouts and detaining him.”
The two girls father has been revealed to be a retired police major Valentin Suprunov, a former senior criminal investigator. The divorced couple also shared a son, Sergey, 19.
