P Diddy has been forced to pay a fellow musician $5,000 a day for the rest of his life.

The ‘Bad Boys For Life’ artist – whose real name is Sean Combs – is one of the most successful rappers of all time, having won three Grammys, while having had five Billboard number-one hits.

Diddy also has a net worth of around $1 billion, due to his business ventures as the founder of Revolt Media and his record label Bad Boy Entertainment.

Although, it’s lucky that the ‘Coming Home’ rapper is so wealthy as he has been forced to pay a fellow musician $5,000 a day for the rest of his life.

One of Diddy’s most successful songs is his 1997 hit ‘I’ll Be Missing You’, which features Faith Evans.

The song is in memory of Evans’ husband and Diddy’s friend The Notorious B.I.G, who was murdered in 1997.

It earned a Grammy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group and spent 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

However, it was only after Diddy released the track that he asked for permission from The Police frontman to sample his song.

As he didn’t secure the appropriate legal ground to use the song, this meant Sting had the right to sue Diddy.

Due to this, the ‘Coming Home’ rapper hasn’t seen a single penny from one of his biggest hits – as 100 per cent of the royalties go to the ‘Roxanne’ singer.

This is significantly more than if Diddy just asked Sting if he could sample his song, as the rapper would only have to give him 25 per cent of the royalties.

In a 2018 interview with The Breakfast Club, Sting said he receives $2,000 a day from the ‘I Need A Girl’ rapper.

He explained that there was no hard feeling between the pair and added that ‘it was a beautiful version of that song’.

A clip of him saying this has resurfaced on Twitter and Diddy responded: “Nope. 5k a day. Love to my brother Sting!”

This would mean that Sting has possibly made $47,500,00 (£38,140,000) off Diddy so far.

In a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone, Sting revealed that it was Elton John who encouraged him to go down the legal route as it would make him a ‘millionaire twice over’.

Sting recalled: “Those guys just take your s***, put it on a record and deal with the legality later.

“Elton John told me, ‘You gotta hear [‘I’ll Be Missing You’], you’re gonna be a millionaire!’.
