Parents Give Away Son’s Bed And Widescreen TV After He Stole Their Range Rover

A mum and dad decided to give away their son’s bed, widescreen TV and trainers after he stole their car.

Angel Martinez, from Arizona, US, decided to take advantage of having the house to himself when he stole his parents’ Range Rover and drove through the neighbourhood at a reckless speed.

Knowing that he’d never get away with it usually, the 14-year-old decided to take it for just ‘one spin’ around the block.

Angel explained that while his parents were away in Las Vegas, he gave the car a wash and thought it would make it dry quicker if he took it on a short drive.

He said Fox6: “I just wanted to drive but I don’t have my license so I just took it.

“I can wash the car, and I was like I don’t have anything to dry it, so I’m gonna take it for one spin until it dries.”

The incident terrified neighbours who feared for their and their children’s safety.

It wasn’t long before Ramon Martinez, Angel’s dad, was informed by the police about what had happened.

For a completely different reason, Angel had already been in trouble – so this was the final straw.

To teach their son a valuable lesson, they decided to punish him with a rather unusual approach.

Ramon said: “Today, his room is 100 per cent empty, and we’re giving all his stuff away.

Alongside a sign that read ‘Sorry I stole my parent’s car and was speeding’, the boy was forced to sit outside, amongst his belongings in the family’s driveway.

The dad said the punishment was a way in which the teen could apologise for misbehaving to not just him, but to the entire residential area.

Angel told the news outlet that although he was gutted to be giving up his most prized possessions, he believed it was a suitable punishment for what he had done.

He commented: “It’s kind of weird, but I think it’s a fair punishment.”
