Peaky Blinders actor Toby Kirkup ‘died alone’ at his home in Linthwaite ‘days after being discharged from hospital,’ an inquest heard.
The 48-year-old, who also starred in Emmerdale, reportedly went to the hospital with ‘chest pain’ in August 2020 but was ‘diagnosed with gastritis and sent home’.
During the inquest at Bradford Coroner’s Court, it was ruled his death was the result of aneurysm ‘rupturing’.

Assistant Coroner Ian Pears reportedly read out a statement from Kirkup’s family.
In it, it was claimed that the actor’s death was the result of being ‘wrongly diagnosed’ and on ‘a perception of excessive alcohol and drug use’.
The inquest also heard that a week before his death, Kirkup celebrated his birthday, ‘making use of recreational drugs and alcohol’.
The family reportedly claimed that he started to ‘use drink and drugs when at university’ but had been ‘clean since going to rehab in South Africa,’ almost 10 years before he died.
Pathologist Dr Karen Ramsden stated: “I don’t think we can prove chronic cocaine usage was the cause.
“A toxicology report found traces of cocaine in his system, though the results didn’t indicate recent excessive use.”
Assistant coroner Ian Pears reportedly concluded that Kirkup died of natural causes.
Discussing the case, he apparently said: “It’s quite clear that cardiac procedures were followed.
“I’m not at all critical of anything that has taken place within the hospital and I understand the reason for the discharge.
“It is one of those things where, unfortunately, the condition has then ruptured and become a terminal event.”
