“Peter has not performed a live stand-up set on a big stage in well over a decade now but he could not be more ready to get back out there.”
Although nothing has officially been confirmed, eager fans have taken to Twitter and shared their excitement at the news.
One wrote: “Apparently he is going to announce tour dates soon. Peter Kay is a comedy genius, everything he touches turns to gold.”
“Brilliant stand-up,” added a second. “His Best Medicine is still one of the best I’ve seen. And if you look at the writing credits on Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing, his name’s all over it.”
A third remarked: “Britain’s most talented comedian/entertainer (just pips Ricky Gervais).”
In 2017, the Bolton funnyman was forced to cancel his shows due to a ‘family emergency’.
At the time, he told fans: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
“My sincerest apologies.
“This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.”
As well as working on a new tour, the 48-year-old is rumoured to be working on a new autobiography. According to Sky News, it will be ‘all about working in TV’.
