Peter Kay fans have been left ‘worried’ after watching his first TV appearance in two years.

The Bolton comedian, who hasn’t been in the spotlight for two years, starred on BBC’s The Big Night In to help raise money for Comic Relief and Children In Need.

The 45-year-old appeared on the show from his home and could be seen tucking into an ice lolly while wearing sunglasses and a hat.

In his feature, he said: “Fifteen years ago I did a sketch for Comic Relief called ‘Is This The Way To Amarillo’ and I never imagined that it would go down so well and make everyone happy.

“And I thought, what a perfect time to recreate it again.

“So we’ve asked a lot of you to film yourselves and send it in and listen if you can help tonight there’s a number on screen. If you can’t, then don’t worry about it. You’ve got enough going on.

“But take care and enjoy yourselves in ‘Is This The Way To Amarillo’?

“Lots of love to you all.”

Despite sharing a heartwarming message, viewers were concerned over the comedian’s appearance, with many insisting he looked unwell.

One person tweeted: “Great to see Peter Kay back on our screens, but he didn’t look or sound too well.”

Another added: “Peter Kay didn’t look or sound well on the Tele then didn’t he. Sad to see!”

“Anyone else worried about Peter Kay? Great to see him, but something didn’t seem right,” a third commented.

But other fans were just delighted to see Kay in the world of showbiz again and took to social media to share their excitement.

A Big Night In viewer commented: “So lovely to see Peter Kay back on TV tonight.

“Absolutely loved the new video of Amarillo with key workers, NHS staff etc.”

In 2017, Kay announced that he would be cancelling his tour due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.

Since then, he has kept a low profile and has reportedly been living in Co Tipperary.
