Piers Morgan has joked that the Archbishop of Canterbury should be sacked.

His comments come after Justin Welby denied marrying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in ‘secret‘ three days before their televised ceremony.

In a tweet, Morgan said: “The Archbishop of Canterbury should either apologise for disbelieving Meghan Markle’s secret wedding claims – or lose his job.”

But not everyone saw the funny side.

One Twitter user wrote: “If I hounded someone that wasn’t famous the way you do Megan I’d be arrested for harassment. Honestly Piers, it’s not good.”

Another said: “You need to move on from your obsession. It’s not healthy and comes off as a bit weird. By the way, you didn’t lose your job, you walked out.”

Come on @piersmorgan. There must be something else you can tweet about rather than Megan Markle,” a third complained.

Meghan Markle made headlines when she recently revealed she and Prince Harry had exchanged vows before their Windsor wedding.

But when the Archbishop sat down with La Repubblica he insisted that this was not true.

He said: “The legal wedding was on the Saturday. I signed the wedding certificate, which is a legal document. I would have committed a serious criminal offence if I signed it knowing it was false.”

The former chief clerk at the Faculty Office then told The Sun that Meghan is ‘obviously confused and clearly misinformed’.

The representative revealed that he drew up a Special License which is recognised ‘by the Church of England and the law’.
